Pastor's Meditation

February, 2008

Meditations from Pastor Sharon

Our God is an Awesome God!!

Did you ever feel that maybe God didn?t care about you?

?.the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, support, strengthen, and establish you.      I Peter 5: 10

Taken from the Upper Room on March 12, 2006 for Those Who Feel Alone.

?Our Pastor always ends worship with the same benediction; ?May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship and communion of the Holy Spirit be and abide with each of you, and with all those whom you love, and with all those whom nobody loves save for God, this day and forever.  Amen.?

The person who wrote about this went on to say, ?All those whom nobody loves save God: are the words that hold deep meaning for me.  God offers us reassurance that we are loved, even when we feel that nobody loves us.  Once we know God?s love, each of us can seek out those ?whom nobody loves? in our congregation, family or neighborhood.  We can show God?s love so that others may come to know they are also loved.?

It is the Lenten season or 40 days, not counting Sundays until Easter.  During this time, we learn about the life and ministry and the death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth.

Jesus walked among all the people ? not just the rich and famous or the popular or the so-called most holy people or even just to his own family and his own ?people?.

Jesus went everywhere, even into the land of the unclean?the Samaritans and the Phoenicians.  He even personally touched the unclean and those with physical illnesses and defects. Christ went out to the tombs to the man with severe mental illness depicted as possessed by demons.  Jesus knew no strangers.  He went out to teach everyone about God?s love and God?s grace, even those of different countries races, status and religions.  God is love and Jesus went out to share that love with everyone.

Dear gracious and loving God, we come ? sometimes hopeful, sometimes broken, and sometimes rebellious---but we come.  We ask that you fill us with your love and make us clean and whole. Fill us with your love and grace and hope.. Grant us the experience of your love and then fill us up with the courage to go out to show that same love to the hurting world around us.

In Christ?s holy name of love, Amen.
